Something has shifted. It felt like something impo Something has shifted. It felt like something important, something amazing, and something redemptive. There was no question whether the food was going to be great, but there was no way to expect the great hope that was ringing through the building. It was electric. The space is really something that must be experienced. It’s brand new and modern yet honors the roots of their generations. It is cozy but so spacious. A print of the late Anthony Bourdain sits above the chef table where you can reserve a spot and watch the kitchen  operating like a royal ball.  The addition of their new pastry chef fits perfectly with the espresso & gelato bar “Affogato” that can be visited separately while visiting @historicbiltmorevillage. Life is returning to the village. It was something to behold as many chefs, restaurant owners, and community leaders came to celebrate the @ant_cerrato family and all they do for our community. The high water mark from #hurricanehelene will be on the wall of @gemelli.avl as a reminder of what we can overcome when people with vision and leadership rise after disaster. Salute!!
Oh.My.Gosh! The amazing Ms. Shirley, 90 years youn Oh.My.Gosh! The amazing Ms. Shirley, 90 years young, visited @ashevillefoodtours today with her daughter in law, @gertongetaways.  @stuhelmfoodfan waltzed them around town and kept them eating and drinking to their heart’s delight. @ashevilleproper ‘s new Live Fire spring menu was @ashevilleproper ‘s new Live Fire spring menu was the perfect Good Friday lunch! In honor of traditional Appalachian spring, @foodtourspaddy ordered the Ramp & Violet Gnocchi that made us wish we could sit and eat it all day. @sarah.snacks.avl delighted in the truffle grilled hominy co-starring in the gnocchi. OK! Great discussion was had on the world of deviled eggs. You can elevate but you can’t deviate! The pickled deviled eggs with smoked yolk and Pappy trout roe could sit proudly on any table humble or royal and be praised. The Coronation Chicken Salad Sandwich was like some kind of vacation experience in the booth. Decadent croissant, toasted almonds, pickled onions and picture perfect. This leads to this social media person’s reason for eating out….the fries. Tallow Home Fries were every potato lovers dream and the Bama bbq aioli was a creative and delicious dipping option. Last and definitely not least the unassuming Braised Embered Beets with berry toasted cashews (which we voted to make into their own appetizer) I wish we had recorded the convo at the table with General Manger, Michael Pearce who shared about the restaurant’s creative kitchen talent and the reason high end restaurants use paper menus.  Because most downtown restaurants demand local ingredients and flavors in season, menus change often. Paper menus allow for day of menu changes. We also had a visit from Chef Jason Sweeney who prepared this meal that we will be thinking about for days! The only thing missing from this amazing table was @stuhelmfoodfan.  @ashevillefoodtours mission is connecting people with great food. We cannot wait to take our tours in.

We can’t take our tours here because it would be a We can’t take our tours here because it would be a LOOONG walk 😂, but everyone knows how much we love @larumbarestaurantlatino. 14 years ago Reynaldo Macario and Luis Rodriguez met and forged a unique friendship that has grown into a strong business partnership. In 2021, they opened @larumbarestaurantlatino on the backside of Covid shutdowns. You rarely see Luis outside of the kitchen because he prefers to be back of house, but he is 1/2 the success. The menu at La Rumba won restaurant of the year from @stuhelmfoodfan awards in 2023. From the bar menu to the epic lunch and dinner menu, La Rumba is one of our top favorite “out of downtown” restaurants.  We have ordered most of the menu and haven’t found anything we haven’t been impressed with. Great leadership and strong friendship has sustained this restaurant through the many challenges from Helene. Mango habenero chicken is my favorite! This is another group that we are grateful to call #ashevillestrong
